Reußenköge/Buttenwiesen, 22 December 2016 – As the year draws to a close, GP JOULE is completing four projects, mainly in Bavaria, with a total generation capacity of around 35 MW. The beginning of 2017 will be marked by the construction of two prototype wind power facilities and a 10 MW ground-mounted solar facility, as well as the development of several municipal energy concepts.

The majority of the 35 MW realised by the end of the year stems from projects in Bavaria. With seven Nordex facilities and 16.8 MW of installed generation capacity, Schimmendorf is the largest wind farm that GP JOULE has realised in Bavaria. The Ansbach/Lichtenau wind farm with its three Vestas facilities of the 3.3 MW class and the 7.5 MW solar farm in Großhöbing – the first approved project in the new tendering process for ground-mounted solar facilities – are also located in Bavaria. In the North Frisian community of Bosbüll, construction of the largest roof-mounted solar facility that GP JOULE has ever built – with a generation capacity around 1 MW – is currently being completed.

In terms of project planning and power generation facilities, the pipeline for 2017 is promising. We are working hard on two wind test fields – in Südermarsch, within eyeshot of Messe Husum, and in Grevenbroich. The two Nordex prototypes planned here are intended to be finished by the beginning of the coming year. ‘We are particularly happy about these two projects. For one, we always feel that our expertise is confirmed when we are entrusted with the construction of prototypes. And second, the facility in Grevenbroich is within eyeshot of a lignite-burning power plant. For us, this is a particular motivation and satisfaction regarding our stated objective of 100% renewable energies,’ explains Ove Petersen, founder and managing director of GP JOULE.

Additionally, a 10 MW ground-mounted solar facility in Euerwang, Bavaria, and the development of further thermal concepts for municipalities throughout Germany have been approved.
