Press release

GP JOULE and Nospa are expanding the electric charging infrastructure in the north of Schleswig-Holstein. Nospa branches are to be fitted with charging points for electrically powered cars.

Nospa CEO Thomas Menke (r.) and GP JOULE managing director Ove Petersen (l.) were there in person to put the new electric charging facilities in Tarp into operation.

Reußenköge/ Flensburg – In the Flensburg/Angeln/Schleswig area – up to now a blank spot on the charging network map for electric car drivers in terms of publicly available charging points – GP JOULE CONNECT and Nord-Ostsee-Sparkasse (Nospa) are joining forces to improve the infrastructure. From now on, there will be two AC charging points with an output of 22 KW at each of the Nospa branch sites in Kropp, Satrup and Tarp. The Nospa branch in Tönning will also be fitted with a charging point. Nospa customers will be able to “fill up” for a total of approx. 1,800 times for free during the first year; other electric car drivers will also have access to the charging facilities using a CONNECT charging card.

GP JOULE is installing and operating the charging stations at its own expense through its business unit CONNECT, which specialises in e-mobility. The main operational services are invoicing and support. For the launch of the charging stations, GP JOULE will be providing some 1,800 charging operations free of charge – equivalent to a total net sum of EUR 3,000. This free charging allocation is exclusively available to Nospa customers during the first year of operation. Customers can apply for the appropriate RFID charging cards at the Nospa branches where the charging stations are installed. As the service partner, GP JOULE will keep user accounts which can be viewed via app, providing customers with a clear and transparent overview of the kilowatt-hours charged.

“Electric mobility has to be functional and convenient if it is to become established in the area of private transportation – and a dense charging network is indispensable. With our GP JOULE CONNECT charging card we offer access to more than 7,000 charging stations and more than 15,000 charging points throughout Europe. As a Schleswig-Holstein-based company that regards our region as a pioneer in the area of renewable energy sources, we naturally want to be involved in the expansion process,” explains GP JOULE co-founder and managing director Ove Petersen. Nospa CEO Thomas Menke adds: “A progressive infrastructure is a crucial factor for an attractive living environment and a competitive business region. It’s now true to say that expansion of the e-mobility charging network has the same status as traffic route development and high-speed internet provision.”

In order to ensure that each charging point uses power from renewable energy sources, GP JOULE CONNECT is providing a separate mains connection at each site as well as the appropriate green power.
The installation of the seven charging points at the Nospa branches is being supported by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
