Husum, 17. March 2016 – At New Energy Husum 2016, GP JOULE is presenting its new product, GP JOULE CONNECT, for the first time. With CONNECT, the company from Schleswig-Holstein enables industrial companies and businesses as well as local communities to cover their energy needs with 100% clean power from the region. CONNECT emphasises GP JOULE’s strong commitment to sector coupling, the dedicated linking of power market, heat market and transport. At New Energy Husum 2016, sector coupling is also a focal topic. From 17 to 20 March 2016, companies will be presenting new business models and solutions with the aim of achieving a fully-fledged energy turnaround.
Above all in the heat and mobility market there is outstanding unexploited potential for CO2 reductions. By wholeheartedly expanding the area of sector coupling, it is possible to create solutions which allow for the power generated by renewable energies to be used effectively and practically on site and thus achieve new value creating potentials for Schleswig-Holstein. In view of the enormous and continually rising costs for curtailing and limiting surplus renewable electricity, which already rose to almost one billion euros in 2015, Ove Petersen, managing director of GP JOULE demands: “It is high time for the energy from renewables which can’t be integrated into the power grid to be made available directly in Schleswig-Holstein in the form of heat, green fuel or for industrial uses. With Power-to-Gas the required technology is already available for serial production.”
CONNECT shows what sector coupling can look like in practice: commercial enterprises, companies or local communities can profit from attractively priced electricity tariffs and implement suitable infrastructure solutions in the areas of mobility. and storage. This makes it possible to market renewable energy regionally and directly. Using CONNECT, the entire energy value chain from production, distribution to usage is integrated into one closed loop in which there are only winners. In this way GP JOULE is creating an energy system from which both business and industry as well as the entire region can benefit from.
In order to put the energy turnaround into practice successfully, a multitude of intelligent solutions is required. Apart from CONNECT, GP JOULE is also presenting its other range of products for end customers at New Energy Husum, above all Plug & Play solar systems such as miniJOULE as well as smart products in the area of charging infrastructure. A further eye-catcher at the GP JOULE stand is the Power-to-Gas system in real-world operation where trade fair visitors can get a close-up, hands-on experience of the innovative hydrogen technology. Electricity is converted to hydrogen in PEM electrolysis stacks developed by GP JOULE and thus made storable. The hydrogen can be converted back to electricity as required or utilised in the heat and mobility market or in industry.
“With sector coupling we are increasing the market opportunities for renewable energies, especially for inexpensive wind power from Schleswig-Holstein. In this way we are generating added value for the region which ensures long-term security of investment and thus safeguards jobs.” These are clear statements on the current situation by Petersen. “At New Energy Husum, GP JOULE is presenting concrete practical examples of how sector coupling can be implemented in Schleswig-Holstein and how this can enable clever business models and generate added value locally.”
New Energy Husum is one of the most important trade fairs in the area of renewable energies. Since 2002 is has been the stage for decentralised energy generation based on all renewable energies.
