GP JOULE at the Pringles Kitesurf World Cup 2015

Reußenköge, 25 August 2015. The best German and international kite surfers are meeting from 21 to 30 August 2015 in St. Peter-Ording for the biggest kitesurfing event in the world.

The Kitesurf World Cup is ten years old this year and is the only German stop on the official VKWC World Tour. Because GP JOULE already regularly supports the Windsurf Cup on the island of Sylt and surfing legend Robby Naish is one of its brand ambassadors, a partnership with the kitesurfers was practically a no-brainer. “As a North Frisian company, we are very pleased to support an exciting sports event that will attract kitesurfers from all over the world to our region,” said GP JOULE Managing Director Ove Petersen.

The company specializes in the planning, construction, operation and smart integration of renewable energies. That is why the company’s affinity with kite surfing is obvious. “We use the wind and the sun, among other things, to produce energy for daily electricity needs. Similarly, the kitesurfers use the natural forces of wind and water to demonstrate their best moves. We share the kitesurfers’ passion for sun and wind and their enjoyment in using these resources,” continued Petersen. “The great thing is that we can continuously use these resources without ever exhausting them.”

The venue for the Kitesurf World Cup is Schleswig-Holstein‘s Wattenmeer National Park. The entire area is a designated UNESCO world natural heritage site. That is why GP JOULE naturally aims to make the Kitesurf World Cup as climate-friendly and environmentally compatible as possible. For this reason, GP JOULE is supplying 20 miniJOULE solar units with a total output of 4 kWp for the Surf Cup event. This means that part of the power needed for the event can be produced without CO2 emissions by simply using the power of the sun.

miniJOULEs are solar units with integrated inverter that can also be used to produce green energy easily and cost-efficiently in your own home. When used as a miniJOULE island, a unit even allows power to be generated from the sun and used almost anywhere – perfect for outdoor activities like kitesurfing. This means that green energy can be produced simply and cheaply, whether you’re at home or on the move.
