Reußenköge/Buttenwiesen – For the first time, GP JOULE is to become involved as a wind project developer in South America and will be installing two small on-shore parks in Chile in cooperation with the company Energy Kitchen GmbH from Husum. Two 9 megawatt wind parks will be built in the interior of the country, in each of the regions of Bío Bío and Los Lagos. The designated areas are some 400 hectares in size and have been successfully secured.
"The next major milestone will be to ensure a successful approval procedure for the two wind parks", says co-founder and managing director Ove Petersen, commenting on the process status and the motivation behind the project. " Our own investment is not especially large and the so-called PMGD system promotes decentralised energy generation units in the single-digit megawatt range with an individual tariff. Energy Kitchen will be our on-site partner – they already have South America expertise. This will enable us to start gathering experience in Chile – an international market that is new to us – so as to intensify our activities there in future in the area of wind energy and possibly expanded it to include photovoltaics project planning.“ The PMGD model (Span. Pequeños Medios de Generación Distribuida, Engl. Small Distributed Generators‘) applies to systems not exceeding 9 megawatt (MW) in size and which are connected to the network of an energy supply company.“
GP JOULE has so far been successful in wind and photovoltaics project development, plant building and operations management in Germany, France and Italy as well as South Africa and North America. The company has realised some 200 megawatts of on-shore wind energy and 500 megawatts of photovoltaics projects; a volume of more than 1.5 gigawatts is currently in the project pipeline. At Wind Energy 2018 in Hamburg from 25 to 28 September GP JOULE will be providing information on its extensive portfolio in Hall A1, Stand 220.
