Reußenköge, 6 June 2016 – Great success for GP JOULE. The company for renewable energies from Schleswig-Holstein was chosen from over 600 applicants to be an exhibitor at the “Week of the Environment” by a jury selected by the Federal President of Germany. At the joint stand shared with the Competence Centre for the Environment (Kompetenzzentrum Umwelt e.V. KUMAS), GP JOULE will be presenting the conversion and subsequent storage of renewable power to hydrogen before the impressive backdrop of Schloss Bellevue in Berlin on 7 to 8 June.
“We are very pleased to receive such appreciation from the Federal President”, says GP JOULE founder and managing director Ove Petersen. He continues: “If you’re serious about protecting the environment, there’s no getting past renewable energies. More than ever, protecting the environment also means protecting the climate. Thanks to the innovative conversion of renewable power into hydrogen and the resulting applications in the heat and mobility market or in industry, we can save enormous amounts of CO2 and make a major contribution towards global decarbonisation.”
Saving the environment is an essential component of GP JOULE’s company DNA. “Our roots are in sustainable agriculture and respect for nature. All our products and solutions are developed with this spirit in mind”, says Ove Petersen.
The centrepiece of the GP JOULE presentation in Schloss Bellevue Park is the globally unique model of a power-to-gas system which generates hydrogen on site. In a hands-on fashion GP JOULE is demonstrating what the energy world of tomorrow can look like: unused power from renewable energies is converted into hydrogen and stored with virtually no losses using PEM electrolysis. The hydrogen can then be converted back to electricity as required or utilised as a green fuel for hydrogen cars or used in industry as a fuel or as a production material.
Efficiency and economy are also increased as the conversion heat generated can also be used. The power gap filler project by GP JOULE which has been in operation at the company location in Reußenköge for a year now, shows how this is applied in practice using an existing biogas plant.
The independent specialist jury appointed by Federal President Joachim Gauck applies strict selection criteria for the invited exhibitors. Only projects and companies whose environment friendly solutions have a high potential of being implemented on a technical, social and economic scale were invited to Berlin. The “Week of the Environment” is being held for the fifth time already since 2002.
