Reußenköge/Kiel – GP JOULE has received the 2019 Environmental Business Award. The 10-member jury of experts was impressed by the company’s business model based on holistic renewable energy solutions as well as its marketable technology and associated projects for green hydrogen production from green electricity. In this way, GPJOULE is making a significant contribution to the cross-sectoral energy turnaround.

The jury of the Studien- und Fördergesellschaft der Schleswig-Holsteinischen Wirtschaft (Schleswig-Holstein Economic Research and Development Society) was deeply impressed by how GP JOULE has adopted a practical, pioneering role in proactively advancing the energy turnaround through cross-sector linkage. In this way, it is possible to increase the potential for regional and local value creation, especially in Schleswig-Holstein.

In his tribute speech, Dr. Philipp Murmann, Chairman of the Studien- und Fördergesellschaft, emphasised that the conviction and consistency with which GP JOULE was advancing its vision – and thus the energy turnaround for society at large – were especially convincing. In addition, Dr. Murmann praised the company’s entrepreneurial regional activities geared towards rural areas. “We are proud and extremely pleased that our approach to the energy turnaround and our ideas as to how to implement it with the population on a 100 percent renewable basis has been honoured with this great award”, says Ove Petersen, Managing Director and co-founder of GP JOULE. Environment Minister Jan Philipp Albrecht delivered the ceremonial address at the award ceremony, which took place yesterday in Kiel Castle and was attended by 300 guests from politics and business. He was clearly impressed by the innovative strength and commitment of both award winners, confirming the need for the rapid introduction of these technologies and solutions and, in addition, more consistent expansion of renewable energy production.
