Reußenköge, 13. March 2020
GP JOULE, Reußenköge, signed the supply contract for the two-door H2.City Gold buses with CaetanoBus, Portugal. The order is an important step for realizing Germany's largest green hydrogen mobility project "eFarm". The cooperative project, in which 20 regional partners are involved, including citizen wind and solar parks as well as public utilities, was initiated by GP JOULE in 2017. A joint hydrogen infrastructure from production and processing to fleet deployment is being developed in North Frisia. Citizens and companies who want to purchase a hydrogen vehicle thus receive supply security for 100 % green, regionally generated hydrogen from wind power. The "eFarm" project receives a grant of 8 million euros from the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure.
North Frisia shows how it’s done
The stylish H2.City Gold 12-metre buses from Caetano will be used flexibly in the climatic spa of Niebüll on over 50 routes operated by Autokraft GmbH, a Deutsche Bahn AG company, in the North Frisia district. An astonishing range of 400 km with only one fuel load - the technologically highly advanced Toyota fuel cell makes this possible. Roof-mounted power supply components such as hydrogen tanks, batteries and fuel cell system contribute to a low-floor design and a comfortable passenger experience.
Green and cosy
Climate-friendly comfort for driver and passengers all year round: The buses are equipped with a modern and efficient air conditioning system with heat pump. In addition, the Caetano H2.City Gold will meet various safety requirements so that everyone on board can be sure to travel safely. For example, in the event of an accident, the installed hydrogen leakage sensors and crash sensors cut off the flow of hydrogen from the tanks.
Perfect partners
CaetanoBus, Porto/ Vila Nova de Gaia, has been developing solutions for electric mobility since 2010. "We are very proud that by delivering our H2.City Gold, Caetano we are part of the eFarm initiative and can contribute to creating a greener future in which we all want to live," said Jorge Pinto, CEO of CaetanoBus. The company, part of the Salvador Caetano Group and Mitsui & Co, offers a consolidated range of vehicles for cities and airports, thanks to its technical ability for developing unique, customer-oriented mobility solutions. CaetanoBus is also the manufacturer of COBUS, the world market leader for airport buses.
