Wind energy can do more than you think!

Northern Germany already frequently produces more renewable energy than is actually used. However, until now, it has often been impossible to make the best possible use of the surplus energy: increasingly, renewable energy systems have to be limited on windy days and more and more renewable energy has to be exported because there is no one to buy it in the domestic market.

Furthermore, renewable energy systems will soon stop receiving feed-in tariffs when the trading price of electricity is negative for more than six hours – a situation that will be increasingly common in future. At the same time, the turnaround in energy policy is not making sufficient headway and there is still enormous untapped potential for reducing CO?, particularly in the heating and mobility markets.

But wind energy can do a great deal more. The solution is to be found in innovative storage technologies that will help wind energy operators to make rational use of their surplus energy, tapping into new and attractive sources of revenue. GP JOULE has developed a power-to-gas technology that uses PEM electrolysis to convert wind energy into hydrogen. This hydrogen can then be converted back into power as required or – in a genuine energy turnaround – can be used in the heating or mobility market or in industry.

GP JOULE will be demonstrating just how PEM electrolysis works at Husum Wind 2015 from 15 to 18 September. This means that GP JOULE will be the first company in the world to provide a live demonstration of a power-to-gas system. Why not pay us a visit at Husum Wind in Hall 3, Stand C.04 to discover how you can do more with your energy?
