GP JOULE and Solarparc commission 54 MW solar park in Kleinschirma

Reußenköge/ Kleinschirma, 08 October 2024

Official commissioning in the district of Central Saxony: The Kleinschirma solar park has been completed and operational since 17 September. With a capacity of around 54 MWp, it generates approximately 60,500 megawatt hours of green electricity annually. On behalf of Solarparc Kleinschirma GmbH & Co. KG, part of the Solarparc Group, GP JOULE served as the general contractor overseeing the entire project: from system design and construction management to route construction, supervision of the substation construction, and coordination of trades and grid connection.

The Kleinschirma solar park produces clean electricity capable of supplying over 18,500 households (annual consumption 3,250 kilowatt hours). A significant contribution to the sustainable energy supply in the region.

One of the biggest challenges for the plant manufacturer GP JOULE EPC was the rocky subsoil of the construction site. To securely anchor the ramming profiles for the solar module substructures, some preparatory drilling was necessary.

Precise planning and the manufacturer’s extensive experience made it possible to install 21,000 profiles with 93,600 modules without disrupting the construction schedule. To achieve this, GP JOULE partnered with the solar energy company Ecotec and civil engineering experts from Kuke Baumaschinen-Dienstleistungs GmbH. Extensive flush drilling was also required for laying the medium-voltage line to the substation, a task GP JOULE successfully completed with Heinz Bente.

“The successful commissioning in Kleinschirma once again demonstrates how we can efficiently bring complex projects to fruition through expertise and close partnership,” says Meik Gessner, Managing Director of GP JOULE EPC. “We are proud to have been appointed as the general contractor once again, reaffirming the trust our customers have in us.”

From design to commissioning: “Everything from a single source”

As the full-service provider for planning, procurement, and construction of solar parks, GP JOULE was responsible for the entire implementation of the energy project. In Kleinschirma, this included not only the plant construction but also overseeing the construction of the substation that was being built concurrently, and an external medium-voltage line.

This is already the second energy project that Solarparc, an entity responsible for all development stages from pre-financing to construction initiation for the PV park and substation, has implemented together with the energy supplier GP JOULE.
