GP JOULE begins construction of a 96-megawatt solar park in Nordenham

Reußenköge/Nordenham, 30 April 2026

GP JOULE has started construction of the substructure for a new ground-mounted photovoltaic system in Nordenham near Bremerhaven. The solar park is being built on behalf of PARQ energy. Thanks to its special system design, it will deliver an output of 96.47 megawatt-peak (MWp) on an area of around 73 hectares.

As an EPC service provider, GP JOULE is responsible for planning, procurement, construction and commissioning of the system. Construction started in March, with commissioning expected by the end of the year.

The construction project in Nordenham continues the collaboration between GP JOULE and PARQ energy: Prior to this, the Frankenförde solar park (Brandenburg) had already been jointly developed.

"The fact that PARQ energy has commissioned us again after our successful first project is an important sign of trust," says Meik Georg Gessner, Managing Director of GP JOULE EPC, about the renewed collaboration. "We see this as confirmation of our work and at the same time as an incentive to continue applying our high standards in terms of quality and meeting deadlines consistently here as well."

Special design for maximum efficiency

The special feature of the system will be the arrangement of the approximately 148,000 modules. The modules will have an inclination angle of just 10 degrees and will be oriented east-west. Project Manager Sebastian Katzer explains: "With an output of around 1.3 MWp per hectare, we have optimised the system together with PARQ energy so that it delivers maximum efficiency. At the same time, the design of the system ensures that the electricity generated is easily marketable, as the east-west orientation of the panels enables consistent production throughout the day."

Logistics also plays a crucial role in terms of efficiency. Early preparations ensured a perfectly prepared construction site and a smooth process. Maximilian Sellmaier, project manager responsible for construction preparation, reports: "To prepare as well as possible for the start of construction this year, we had already created the logistics areas and access routes last year so that suppliers and fitters can move quickly around the site."

The close cooperation between PARQ energy and GP JOULE EPC began with a joint site visit in August 2025. "During the on-site meeting, the project was presented and the logistics and installation work, as well as the specific features of the construction site, were examined in detail," says Sellmaier. "The terrain in Nordenham is challenging. The early exchange helped to reduce risks and clarify outstanding issues. In addition, we were able to draw on our experience from previous PV projects to put this major undertaking on a stable footing right from the start."
