"Energy transition? We can do that ourselves!" - was the idea that occurred to the municipality of Mertingen Together with GP JOULE, they founded "ProTherm Mertingen". The company enables a sustainable and 100 % renewable energy supply for the benefit of the residents, the local businesses and the municipal properties. Initially, the company's own local heating network was built, which supplies public and private buildings with renewable heat from biomass from a local production company. A 750 kW photovoltaic system and four public e-charging stations have been added.

"For our energy supply, we involve local actors and use existing potentials. Together with GP JOULE we have unearthed this treasure and today we know: it's worth it!" - Jörg Baumgärtner, Managing Director of ProTherm Mertingen
The demand for renewable electricity and CO2-free heat is constantly increasing. That’s why proTherm Mertingen will expand its electricity and heat generation with a photovoltaic plant of up to 25 MW - and even remunicipalise the electricity grid after the concession contract expires, i.e. become an electricity grid operator itself. Another step towards the common goal of the municipality, citizens and businesses in Mertingen: a sustainable and reliable supply at comparatively low prices that benefits the region, the environment and the local economy. GP JOULE supports its customers on their path with a full-service, holistic energy concept, planning and constructing power and heat generation systems, with operational management, consulting and, last but not least, partnership-based solidarity.
