In co-operation with GP JOULE, the municipality of Buttenwiesen has founded its own utility company: "Renergiewerke Buttenwiesen", an innovative form of municipal utility. The heating network is being continuously expanded with the aim of supplying the entire region with climate-friendly and affordable heat. Since the first customer was connected to the local heating network in December 2012, around 150 households now receive the local green heat. And the trend is rising.

"A shared vision and the expertise of GP JOULE are the ingredients that make our community a successful example of the municipal energy transition." - Sonja Treuherz, Managing Director of Renergiewerke Buttenwiesen.
Renergiewerke supplies its customers with climate-friendly local heat from biomass and sustainably generated green electricity from the region. In this way, the value created remains local and heat customers benefit from favourable, stable prices and a reliable supply of renewable energy. The energy transition can only be achieved sustainably with a climate-friendly heat supply. Renergiewerke are an example of how the energy turnaround is being put into practice.
